The Price Little Girls Pay

In the wake of the Larry Nassar trial and convictions, there are a lot of people wondering “Why was this not stopped from the beginning?”. That is a valid question that has a complicated answer. Children are impressionable and easily manipulated and more than that-trusting. What Larry Nassar did was abuse their innocence, naivety, and their desire to be Olympic champions someday. Nassar’s reputation as a world renowned sports physician succeeds all the abuse because adults, not children, respected him. Their pleas for help were dismissed as nothing more than made up fantasies. So these people who were protecting Nassar’s reputation were also protecting their own and the University of Michigan.
